Product Development Engineer

Position Summary

Join our team as a Product Development Engineer! In this role, you will be responsible for carrying out various duties within the Product Development Engineering department. These duties include research, design and prototyping, among several other responsibilities, while taking the lead role on product design projects.

Monday-Friday | 8:00am-5:00pm

Position Responsibilities
  • Utilize SolidWorks for the design of new products
  • Research alternate methods of development, when appropriate
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions with the product development team to determine the most viable product design, while meeting requirements set by Product Management
  • Perform optical, thermal, and mechanical testing on engineering prototypes
  • Ensure product adheres to applicable industry and safety standards
  • Adhere to corporate engineering standards and complete required documentation
  • Provide engineering-related support to multiple departments as required
Position Requirements
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, MS Office, and other software as required
  • Strong technical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member effectively
  • This position has been deemed safety-sensitive
Desirable Qualifications
  • Previous experience/training in commercial lighting design
  • Previous experience in sheet metal design
  • Exposure to various manufacturing practices
Health & Safety Factors
  • Job duties are primarily sedentary in nature, but may require physical ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods of time in a fast-paced work environment
  • Must be capable of performing to the criteria presented in the position’s Job Analysis, including requirements for lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying materials that vary in weight. Some tasks may require assistance of other persons and/or mechanical devices
